Suzanne Davies

Studied at Liverpool College of Art, subsequently qualifying as a teacher. Suzanne has taught painting and drawing to students in Adult Education classes in Kirkcudbrightshire for the past two years.
Graduated from the Open University in 1999, with a BA in Art History and Philosophy. Suzanne has lived in Galloway for five years, setting up a studio and small gallery attached to her home where she exhibits her work together with a range of contemporary fine art and crafts by local artists and makers, as well as from other areas in the UK.

Steading Gallery, Borgue, Kirkcudbright
The work on display in the gallery has been produced over the last year, and has as it’s starting point the landscape and history of Galloway, as well as other coastal areas of western scotland.
A Glimpse of light on the hills, the peeling paint on a ruined cottage, something spotted in passing which calls for further attention - these can be the start of a new series of work.

“I enjoy working in arrange of media, always concerned with colour and form, texture and pattern, the classic preoccupations of painters and makers, to produce works which I hope evoke aspects of landscape, history, memory, passing traditions and ways of life, as well as being objects which are aesthetically interesting and pleasing to the viewer.”
